Marketing 101: It’s More Than Just Funnels

What the heck is marketing really? We all think we know, but there’s usually some missing pieces. We’re going to go over why you need it, and how to leverage it in your business. I've done so many different things in my career. My latest adventure is helping small business owners like me with the tech of their business and specifically with their marketing tech. I'm a mom, I'm a wife, and I even have a fluffy golden retriever. I'm obsessed with tea. I love to dance, and one of my favorite things to do is to enjoy the little things as they come. I'm passionate about helping other small business owners because I'm coming from that corporate environment and I see so many small business owners make easily fixed mistakes because they're trying to do it all themselves. I bring my corporate knowledge to the table to help people make better marketing decisions and to grow their business faster than they ever thought possible. Marketing BasicsAll right, so let's talk marketing a bit more. If a tree falls in the forest and no one's around to hear it, it doesn't make a sound?I’m sure we've all heard this a million times. I know I

How To Start Your Kickass Business Today

Want to hear a fun fact? Last year 1.79 billion people shopped online. While that number is huge, it isn't surprising because all you have to do is look out your window at people walking by and they're looking down at their phones. The Internet is taking over our lives at this point. I'm not going to sit here and argue if it's right or if it's wrong, but the way of the world today is that the Internet is a huge part of our lives. This started to impact me a few years ago. I had my daughter. I was working outside of my home. I started to feel like I was just losing myself in all of this. I felt like I was constantly giving to my job. I was giving to my child. I was giving to my marriage. I was giving to my house and even to my dog. I was just giving parts of me and I felt like I didn't have anything for me that was just for me. I started to think “what can I do?”While I loved the company I was working for and I loved the product, the truth of the matter was that I was commuting

Business Plan Outlines – The Very Basics

Nobody’s perfect, myself included. One of the things that I’ve resisted the most is writing a business plan. I had it all in my head and I didn’t have the time to write it down.So what’s the big deal? Well, because I didn’t have an official plan, every new thing that came along would send me into a shiny-object spiral.Having a specific business plan can help safeguard against shiny-object syndrome and keep you on track to meet your goals.ComplexityWhen it comes to business plans, they vary in their complexity. Depending on your situation you may just want to follow a very basic business plan outline.I stuck with a basic plan and I’m glad that I did. I added things as I needed, but it wasn’t as intimidating to start.Regardless, the process of sitting down, creating a business plan outline, and writing a business plan is one of the most valuable exercises you will do. Once I did, it was a lot easier to keep track of what goals I was working toward.Basic Business Plan OutlineList your business credentialsWhy are you qualified to start this business and sell your products and services?Do you have any certifications, degrees, or extra trainings? Authentic Benefits Of Working From Home

I will never forget what it felt like the day that I was laid off. All of a sudden I had been thrown into this uncertainty and I wasn't sure what was going to happen next.I had been in the office environment for so long that the thought of staying in my house all day was terrifying. As I started to look for another job. I realized that I didn't want to go sit in another office somewhere. I didn't want the commute. I didn't want any of it.  I started to consider becoming a remote worker. At first I looked into companies that hired employees to work from home, but then I started to think about potentially working for myself. I certainly had a skill that was something I could turn into a freelancing career.I decided I would give it a try. I mean the worst that could happen is I would just apply for a job and go back to work if working from home didn't have the same appeal anymore.Work from AnywhereThey're bunch of benefits to working from home. First, you can work from anywhere. You are not confined to a specific office space. I can't tell you how

Searching in Facebook Groups

Today we’re going to talk about searching across Facebook. Facebook is moving towards groups. They want everyone to be in groups with people that have similar interests and have conversations with each other. They’re trying to be a little bit more social and adding the “social” back to social media. If you’re looking for potential clients on Facebook one of the best places to search is in groups. We want to search Facebook to find those clients asking questions so that we can answer them and start to build a relationship. Facebook however does not always make it easy. Instead, you can use the search feature in Facebook with filters to narrow it down to posts that contain a specific word or topic. Watch the video above to learn how and download the text file to shortcut your way into the filters. Becoming a Virtual Assistant

Scrolling mindlessly through Facebook, I see another post from a business group. “Help! I need to make money fast from home! What should I do? No MLMs please.” I usually see at least one a day and they usually go the same way. People post MLMs (multi-level marketing opportunities) and then there’s a debate about why people don’t want MLM opportunities. It’s easy to go down that spiral. The truth is, there’s not much that you can do with no money upfront (a usual rule to these posts) and there’s no secret “get rich quick” answer. If someone is honestly looking for a work at home job however, becoming a virtual assistant is a great way to make some money from home doing highly skilled work. There is an upfront cost, but it’s minimal compared to most businesses. Why become a Virtual Assistant? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that there’s a need for more flexibility in the workplace. Companies are downsizing and childcare costs are rising. From this mess comes the need for finding an alternative way to make a good income with built in flexibility and the ability to work remotely. Now more than ever, families

Tips For a Good Quality Web Design

Once you have your website up and running, you’re good to go right? I mean, you took my advice and you don’t have ads all over the place or pop-ups. That is a fantastic first step! Keep in mind however that you’ll always want to be on the offensive making sure you have a great quality website design. I can’t stress enough that it is important to have a gооd quality website design. While design quality can be subjective, there are standards out there on the web to make sure that sites that are included in the search engine index fall within a certain minimum criteria. If they fail to fall within the acceptable range, they will be removed from the index and good luck getting traffic from any of the search engines, often the holy grail of website traffic. Bing, Google, and Yahoo (and other search engines) evaluate your design as well as your brand when it comes to indexing. There are a few basic elements that you should always include to make sure you don’t end up on the naughty list. So if you’re working on search engine optimization, then you’ll need to work on your visual design

5 Important Rules in Website Design

“Ouch, it hurts my eyes!” I yelled at my computer screen, hitting the back button on my browser to get off of the offending website. There were ads and bright colors (in a bad way) all over the place. Often, we know what we don’t like in other websites. We don’t like a million pop-ups, know that ads should be minimal, and that we don’t care to see random stuff all over the place. When it comes to your own website however, it can be more challenging. You know your website so well that it can be hard to make sure that it’s communicating properly. Because of this, it’s important to follow some rules when it comes to creating and designing your website. These rules can help you stay out of trouble when it comes to your user experience. As someone who provides design services it’s especially hard to look at poorly designed sites. It’s always clear when someone tries to create their own web page or hired a poor quality design company. Extra attention should be paid to every minute detail to make sure it performs optimally to serve its purpose. Here are five important rules of thumb to

Technical Difficulties Happen to Everyone: The Website Problems that Took Me Down

Today I want to share a story with you. I know a lot of people get really frustrated when it comes to technology. I’ve had my own fair share of website problems that I want to talk about today. I want you to know that you’re not alone. This week, I am launching an online course. So the entire week has just been craziness of trying to get everything ready. This is my first course and I’ve been working on it for the past three months with amazing results. This means however that I’ve been trying to get everything perfect. I so badly wanted this launch to go off without a hitch. Two weeks ago, I decided to change my entire platform. I moved all of my content over from one content creator to another content creator. Bold move, I know. I had to figure out how to make that all work. I’m thrilled with how it all came out, but it took a lot of time and there was a learning curve. While it ended up being a great thing for my course, it wasn’t something that I had initially expected to do. I’ll admit, I was a littlefrazzled

What Is A Bounce Rate?

As a website designer who is focused on user experience, I talk about bounce rate a lot. What exactly is a bounce rate? What are user comes to your website, in general you want them to stick around for awhile. You probably want them to visit other pages on your website. If you are an e-commerce site, you want them to go to your product page. From there, your visitors should go to your checkout page where they would purchase the product. Meanwhile, if you are a blogger, most likely you want them to read a blog post and then go to an email opt-in page. Or maybe you provide services, then most likely you want them to go to your services page and either learn more about what you do or contact you in order to schedule a consult call. And all three of these scenarios, you are depending on your user going to more than one page on your website.  Your bounce rate is when the user lands on your website and does not navigate to any other page before they leave. That means that they’re not sticking around or visiting other areas of your site. Bounce rate
